What do you do when you kind of hate hockey and sports themed anything, but your kid is a hockey fanatic who never asks for anything but asks for a hockey-themed room?
You mom up, roll up your sleeves and deliver! Well, after establishing some ground rules and making a few compromises. Like I’m picking the colors, end of discussion. And sorry kid, I’m not going to make a shelf out of hockey sticks or fork over any money to the NHL for Canucks Team bedsheets! So he got a hockey themed room on my terms because I’m the boss of this house, sort of.
This tiny 25 square feet corner of the room happens to be the coziest place in our house.
Patent drawings for an ice skate, hockey net, hockey stick, ice rink, zamboni and puck. Can’t get more hockey than this!
Gotta love a 10 year old’s goals! He has gained 3 pounds since he made this goal.
Major props to my husband for making some custom shelving for an awkward spot between the bed and window and turning this space into something useful. Also for applying the hockey stick decals and spacing each decal perfectly apart. This all required some math which I suck at.
I love adding removable wallpaper to boring furniture. But not all removable wallpaper is created equal! I ordered samples from 3 different companies and noticed a huge difference in print and paper quality so choose carefully!
