When you’re photographing a family on the beach and a rogue wave sweeps in and knocks over two grandmas into the ocean, do you help or keep photographing…asking for a friend?
This photo session will go down as one of my all-time favorites: a perfect SoCal beach sunset, three beautiful kids (including a lacrosse-playing teenager who knows how to work her camera angles (!) and a hockey player), cool and hilarious parents, an adorable dog and not one, but TWO grandmas!
This brings me to the conclusion that I need to photograph more grandparents! Capturing the love between grandparents and their grandkids is pretty special, but even more special is the relationship between grandparents and their adult children. As we grow older, with some of us having kids of our own, we see our parents in a different light. There’s certainly more appreciation for all they have done for us and what we put them through as teenagers!
So, for your next family photos, consider asking grandparents to join! Hopefully your photographer doesn’t endanger grandma’s life.
Laughing and oblivious to the giant wave that’s about to hit them.
Rogue wave.
This guy’s expression gets me every. single. time.
The wave not only knocked both grandmas off their feet, but also the glasses off this grandma’s face (which her daughter miraculously found!). We laughed so hard our stomachs hurt.
